All You Ever Wanted to Know About Insurance

Paddle For Parkinson's Event - Thursday, June 2nd

Summer is just around the corner, and it’s a great time to visit Seattle’s lakes, as well as the Puget Sound. At Filer Insurance, we enjoy our aquatic activities from boating to paddling, and coming soon is an opportunity to do them in service of a good cause!

Paddle for Parkinson’s was co-founded by Sandi Ruedt at our Roosevelt office, along with her friend Dwight Jones. Parkinson’s Disease had impacted both of their families, and they wanted to help raise awareness and support Parkinson’s research. In the spirit of charity fun runs, walks, and bike rides, they decided to organize a kayak paddle. With both a competitive race and a shorter fun paddle, the event lets kayakers from around the Seattle area paddle for a cause.

Paddle for Parkinson’s fundraising helps support local and national organizations, including the American Parkinson’s Disease Association (APDA) and The Michael J. Fox Foundation in their research. It also raises awareness about the many families affected by Parkinson’s, and the importance of the work towards a cure.

Instead of a kayak race this year, Paddle for Parkinson’s is organizing two other exciting events. Coming up this Thursday, June 2nd, is Pints for Parkinson’s, a chance to enjoy great brews and help a great cause! We welcome you to join members of our office at The Barking Dog, in Ballard to have a good time raising funds and awareness for Parkinson’s research.

Later this summer, the Elliott Bay Marina will also be hosting Paella for Parkinson’s, featuring Eric & Encarnación. More information on this event will be coming soon to the Paddle for Parkinson’s webpage at www.paddle4pd.com.

At Filer Insurance, we’re invested in helping our community, and we’re proud to do so this month by supporting Parkinson’s Disease research. We hope that you will join us, and Paddle for Parkinson’s, in working towards this cause.
