At Filer Insurance, we’re passionate about helping our communities, and we love to highlight how our employees are contributing to theirs! In this post, Kim Jackson, Personal Lines Account Executive at our Roosevelt office, shares some wonderful experiences that she and her daughter have enjoyed with the Girl Scouts of America:
“My daughter joined her Girl Scout’s troop in kindergarten and is now celebrating ten years with the troop! We’ve made so many great memories, and there is much more to come.
As a volunteer and treasurer, I’ve had the opportunity to see her and the other girls grow into confident young ladies. Their experiences have guided them towards futures as successful, helpful people in their communities.
They learn so many valuable life lessons through community involvement, such as caring for foster babies so the foster parents could attend counseling, volunteering at the Cystic Fibrosis event for a friend with the disease, working with pets at the local animal rescue facility, or meeting women business owners and learning about successful careers.
Of course Girl Scouts love the outdoors and camping experiences. They learn to plan and coordinate encamporees - theme-based camping events that often involve several troops. They build leadership skills by serving as aides and mentors to young campers.
Girl Scouts earn badges as they learn new skills through fun and engaging activities, and as they do badges they develop new interests. I’ve learned a lot by working on badges with my daughter, and it has brought us closer.
I am excited to watch my daughter through high school, along with her friends, as they continue to learn, experience and do so many things for themselves and for others in the community!”
Filer Insurance is proud to have agents like Kim, who value helping their communities, and thankful for the Girl Scouts of America for providing such fantastic life experiences! Keep up the great work!
